SkyWest to buy Bombardier jets in $773 mln deal

Airline SkyWest Inc. placed a firm order with Bombardier Inc for 18 CRJ700 NextGen and four CRJ900 NextGen regional jets, the companies said on Friday.

The value of the order is about $773 million.

SkyWest, which operates regional air services for United Airlines, announced last month it was in discussions with both Bombardier and Brazilian aircraft-maker Embraer for the purchase of 22 aircraft.

Bombardier is the worldīs third-largest civil aircraft maker. Its CRJ700 jets have 66 seats and its CRJ900 jets have 76 seats.

Bombardierīs stock was up 13 Canadian cents at C$5.98 on the Toronto Stock Exchange in early morning trade on Friday, while SkyWest shares rose 82 cents to $26.06 on the Nasdaq.
