Sikorsky Aircraft and VIH Aviation Group Sign for Four S-92(R) Helicopters
|
In a ceremony at Heli-Expo, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. and VIH Aviation Group Ltd. celebrated the recent signing of contracts to provide four additional S-92® helicopters to support offshore oil operations. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., of Hartford, Conn., USA.
The aircraft will be used by VIH´s subsidiary, Cougar Helicopters Inc. These most recent purchases increase the current VIH/Cougar inventory to eleven S-92 aircraft.
"The S-92 helicopter has been a vibrant component of offshore oil operations," said Jeffrey P. Pino, Sikorsky President. "Sikorsky Aircraft appreciates the loyal support of VIH Aviation Group as well as their pioneering work with the S-92. We look forward to continuing our close relationship with VIH and Cougar for many years to come."
Ken Norie, President/CEO of VIH and Cougar, said his company has found the S-92 helicopter to be reliable and steadfast in the face of demanding environments.
"The current VIH S-92 helicopter fleet operates primarily with their Cougar subsidiary in St. Johns, Newfoundland," Norie said. "The S-92 aircraft operating there are providing consistent and reliable offshore transportation services in some of the world´s harshest conditions, including heavy icing conditions during the winter."
