Germany needs 900 new planes in next 20 yrs -Airbus

German airlines are expected to order more than 900 new planes over the next 20 years, and Airbus aims to win at least half of those orders, the planemaker said on Monday.

At current list prices, the value of the new planes totals around $109 billion, said Airbus, which is part of European aerospace group EADS (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

Around 600 of the new planes are expected to be aimed at short-haul business and 200 at middle and long-range. The remaining 100 orders are expected to be for Superjumbos like the A380 and cargo aircraft.

"Germany is and remains a key market for Airbus, with impressive economic growth figures and strong and constant international and domestic demand," Airbus Vice-President for market forecasting Laurent Rouaud said in a statement.
