Bombardier gets $267 mln order for ten Q400 planes
|
Plane and train maker Bombardier said on Tuesday it received an order worth about $267 million from a European airline for 10 of its Q400 turboprop airliners.
The order has an option for another 10 planes, which would raise the value of the contract to about $540 million.
The European airline, which was not identified, will be a new operator of the Q400s.
In September, Montreal-based Bombardier had asked airlines to ground its Q400 turboprop aircraft for inspection, after two passenger planes of Scandinavian air carrier SAS crash landed due to problems with the planesī landing gear.
The problems were attributed to corrosion in both incidents. There were no serious injuries.
Bombardier has nearly 90 percent of its world-wide fleet of Q400s back online. The latest order makes for 264 firm orders for the Q400 airliner, with 164 delivered as of July 31.
Shares of Bombardier were down 2 Canadian cents, or 0.4 percent, at C$5.56 in morning trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
